Friday Night Funny

Hello,

This is married life (hehe!) J is playing Call of Duty (ew!) while I am relaxing on the couch next to him watching Youtube videos! OK, so it's not all pearls and aprons, just not tonight so don't tell :)

We work long hours at work and will be more productive tomorrow. Really, we will. J and I are volunteering for a bar-b-que for a local group. Hey, and maybe then I will wear my pearls and apron!

But for now, I had to share this, enjoy!

Married!

At last!

The Preppy Wedding has taken place, all had a great time and the Preppy Newlyweds are home from the Preppy Honeymoon!

A special Thank You to the following:

- Bridal Party: Thank you for participating! We definately had one good looking party if I must say so!

- Family: Thank you for all your work behind the scenes! We have come to the conclusion that weddings are definately impossible without a lot of help from loved ones! We appreciate all your work to make our special day just that, special!

- Parents: Thank you, Thank you, Thank you! We really cannot explain how thankful we are for all that you have done!
Also, to everyone who traveled to be a part of our big day, we are so blown away that you made it! Wow! Thank you!

I suppose now I should change the blog title to The Preppy Newlyweds . . . lol. We'll see. For now, I will continue to post occasionally to share with you our journey through our first year of wedded bliss :)

Preppy Wedding Showers and a Bachelorette Party

Without further ado, bridal shower pics:
The First Shower of the weekend was hosted by these lovely ladies

The party was complete with a beautiful cake sporting some preppy pink hydrangeas

Pink and green flowers adorned the pink covered table

The same flowers made up my corsage

Here I am, mimosa in hand, making the rounds

As the guest of honor, I had the comfy chair! Here I am with my personal attendant, L.

The Preppy bridesmaids!

The second shower was thrown by MOH at her new place. Such fun! Preppy pink and green balloons and streamers decorated the room. Here we are (I'm the one with the fuzzy tiara!).

Of course this party had a preppy pink decorated cake also!

And now, a preppry bachelorette party!

MOH put the party together, and did SUCH a good job of organizing everything!

Preppy aunts showed up with crazy hats, boas and glasses for the party. I also got a sash and beads with a shot glass and a "Hottie Whistle" (I had to blow this for all the hotties at our table all night! aka, the girls and I!)

MOTB and I

PA and I

Plastics!

Our preppy beverage of choice, peach bellinis!

Overall, a much needed evening with the girls amid the chaos of last minute wedding planning! Thank you to all who came! See you again soon!

OMG

J just said this today on the phone (I wasn't listening in, I promise), " . . . our wedding, 2 weeks from this Saturday . . . "

What? When did this happen?!

The good news is, our favors are in and the centerpeices are put together! Pictures of the Preppy Wedding Fairies who have been working on this will follow in a later post.

My shoes have been ordered . . . bet you can't guess what color they will be ;)

And the RSVPs have been counted. Yes that's right, if you have not turned yours in by now you will be getting a phone call from Preppy Mama or Preppy Ma B (as I call them!).

I had two lovely showers a couple of weeks ago thrown by Aunt G, Aunt P, Nana and MOH. So much fun! Thanks to all the wonderful ladies who were there and those who were not who sent their best wishes! Again, pictures to come in a later post (technical difficulties people, bear with me).

Next up is the last dress fitting (I get to take it home!), a serious hair appointment (you will see) and bachellorette party all in one Saturday!

Monday night musings

Here is some silly-ness.

Sometimes we need this after a month of wedding planning :)

First item:

Onions and chocolate.

So I was making spaghetti sauce tonight and chopping onions. . . and bawling my eyes out! Literally, masacara was running down my face. Not pretty. Does that ever happen to you? Your eyes water while you chop onions? So I talk a walk, step out of the kitchen and hunt up some of my Easter chocolate (from Mama!) that was laying around. Apparently I thought this was a chocolate moment (wait, isn't that all the time?).

Here is where it gets freaky. I take the chocolate back into the kitchen and continue chopping onions. As I eat the little bunny ears (Ow!) my eyes aren't watering anymore! Chocolate and onions . . . perhaps there is a connection?? Who knows, but it worked :)

Last but not least:

Okay, you have to watch this. Happy Monday!

Why I haven't had a life for the last two weekends . . .

Here's why I have been getting up early on Saturday and Sunday mornings.

A lot of sewing . . .

And a lot of paper crafting (is that what making invitations from scratch is called??) . . .

A couple weekends ago Mama and I spent a crazy Saturday hunting down this fabric:

Who knew everyone and their mother was into green toile besides us?? We went to three different fabric stores, one all the way out in CR (a little road trip for us), just to round up enough of the stuff. Here is how the story ended: two women in an SUV with a new touch screen phone and GPS that we didn't know how to work = we got lost!! What a night!

Here is what transpired the next morning and the rest of the day . . . .
Preppy "Wild Cat" decided she would join us.

Mama spent an afternoon ironing . . .
And I learned to sew! Yay!

The weekend after that was dedicated to paper and putting together our invitations.

We were prepared for a looonngg weekend as you can see. Yum, Sloppy Joe fixin's and Puppy Chow! So much for that dress fitting coming up! :)

Everybody pitched in.

Even FOTB had fun "scrapbooking" with us! He was actually a BIG help and designed part of the invitation :)

We also had some assistance from my Nana and Aunt and Uncle L (PS- Uncle L totally got into it!)
We had so much paper stuff going on we needed a map!

Here's to another weekend of rolling out of bed, hair in a pony and headband! But it's all been worth it :)H

Oh my!

This wedding is sure creeping up on me!

This last weekend Mama and I were on a mission to creat pretty homemade invitations. At first we wound up here:

Oops, they definately did not have the paper we were looking for! We thought we had gone here:

The nice boy at the store pointed us in the right direction and when we walked in, were we relieved! There were isles of coordinated papers, envelopes in all shapes and sizes, and any number of card making accessories!

The Paper Depot was great! You gather your paper and envelopes in the colors you want and take it all up to the counter where they put together a mock up for you. Then you just tell them how many you want to make and they will calculate out how much you need, gather it all together for you, and send you on your way! Yay :)

Next, there will be a weekend with plenty of this:

where we will have to get up early to actually put all these together!

Can't wait to send one out to you!

Wedding Dress Inspiration

Yesterday Mama, MOH and I attended my 2nd dress fitting. They were still able to button me into it, oh the relief! It was also Bustle 101. You won't be able to see it, but the buttons have to be color coded because there are so many and so many layers!
Without giving it all away, I will admit that I did add a little something extra . . .

Perhaps I was channeling something like these famous dresses:

This is Melanie Hamilton of Gone With the Wind, or rather a doll of her. This was the dress she wore to the Wilkes barbeque. I immediately thought of the skirt on this dress when I saw my wedding dress . . .

I was feeling a little bit like this (Princess Diana), skirt-wise, as I paraded around the floor at Kim's Tailoring.

I just can't wait for you all to see :)

A Wild Week

I am not usually a crazy hockey fan, but when offered tickets to a Wild game I'll go. Last week I was at three games. What a WILD week!

My advice when you sit in the suites, be patient. The dessert cart will come to you, it goes door to door. You don't have to try to track it down like I did :)

Anybody have a favorite sport that they like to attend? Hopefully you actually watch the games (unlike me who is more concerned with her Diet Coke and where are the chocolate covered strawberries?!).

Valentine's Day decor part II

Good afternoon!

I finally got creative and figured out what to do with the two gold picture frames hanging in our entry way.

I carried the paper heart theme into the frames and hung them from cute (preppy!) pink polka dot ribbon. Here is a picture of both:

Looking down the entry way:

Of course I had to make sure my apothecary jar matched

So I made up this little vignette. Isn't my little monkey cute?! His heart says "Wild About You". I got it as a Valentine's Day present from J I forget how long ago :)

Here is the whole "scene":

Complete with the banner, and you can see the frames in the mirror :)

If anybody would like to share how they decorate for Valentine's Day I would love to see it!
